Performance

The Hyundai Kona offers a peppy and fun driving experience whether you're driving in San Juan or on the highway. Three engine options are offered throughout the lineup, including:

• 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 147-horsepower and 132 pounds-feet of torque(SE, SEL, SEL Plus)
• 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 175-horsepower and 195 pounds-feet of torque (Night Edition, Limited, Ultimate)
• Permanent-magnet synchronous motor with a 64-kWh battery that produces 201-horsepower and 291 pounds-feet of torque (Kona Electric)

All models with the 2.0-liter engine come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is optional throughout the lineup. All models with the 1.6-liter engine get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Again front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is optional on all trim levels. The Kona Electric models is front-wheel drive only. When fully charged, the Kona Electric offers up to 258 miles of range. When charging at home with a normal charger, it takes 9.5 hours to fully charge. If you're using any number of Quick Charge stations around Mission, you can get to 80% in 54 minutes.

Design

The new Hyundai Kona is sleek and stylish from head to toe. It's slanted headlights, floating roof and unique fenders give it a modern, almost futuristic appeal. On higher trims, you can enjoy LED headlights. Roof rails come standard to help you bring along your bicycle or other equipment on trips to McAllen. Inside the cabin, you'll enjoy comfortable seating for five with soft touch features throughout. Both cloth and leather upholstery are available. Behind the second row of seats, you can enjoy 19.5 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats down, you'll get up to 45.8 cubic feet of cargo space for all your storage needs.

The new Hyundai Kona comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, or an 8-inch display on the Ultimate trim. The touchscreen is paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
